"Welcome", was certainly not a welcome change from the stereotype comedy of underworld dons making merry..It is a story about a guy who gets into trouble while looking for himself a wife. Its not only a trouble for him but for his entire family.

With Stalwarts like Paresh Raval, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor, the performances are one thing which cannot be complained about...The script, has some abrupt tried and tested fundas..!! I still wonder what role was crafted for Akshay Kumar... His character was confusedly sketched to an extent that he is shown to be timid, homely guy at some time and bold at some other time...Some scenes have been stupidly pasted for the sake of making it a slapstick comedy which unfortunately makes the audience yawn..Katrina doesn't struggle much with her lines since she has hardly some dialogues to make...Akshay Kumar has acted well notwithstanding his sadly drafted and sketched role...Music is horrible!! Well in all a decent movie which has some witty dialogues !! I liked the witty dialogues...Especially sequences and conversations where Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor prove their acting prowess....

The script is something which I am not a great fan of.. Akhay Kumar\'s role was ill crafted...And some slap stick comedy scenes could have been easily edited..Editor should have seen Malaika Aroras stretch marks on her stomach in that item song..I feel he should have put his scissors there..

I would refrain from commenting on the story line since there needs to be a story to comment on !! I found that the movie lacked a strong story base...Some of the sequences would remind you of movies like Hungama but they merely remind you. It is no where even close to that league.

Provoked is the true story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a Punjabi woman who moved to London after her marriage with Deepak Ahluwalia. Her husband seemed caring at first but then began to beat her up. He started drinking a lot and sleeping around with other women. he also subjected her to spousal rape. After ten years and having two children with him, out of fear, she sets him on fire while he is sleeping, two hours after another scene of domestic violence. He succumbs to the injuries ans she is sentenced to prison for life for premeditated murder. However the Southall Black Sisters, an NGO which fights against domestic violence helps her get justice. And after spending 3 1/2 years in jail, she is set free and reunited with her two children.

Description
Split Wide Open, a 1999 Indian film is Dev Benegal‘s second feature film after English, August. The film primarily deals with the water wars in the slums of Bombay, and paedophilia, and also looks at the subversive sexuality in modern India and how the notions of morality are challenged when sex and poverty collide. The film came under harsh criticsm when released in India and has been one of the most controversial Indian films. The Official Selection at the Venice International Film Festival, the film also won rave reviews and several awards at international film festivals.
